"It was the heaven that saved me from being burnt from hell (work)." - That was my colleague said after our soul searching in the municipality of Tanay, in the province of Rizal.
The first, and the main goal, destination was the Daranak Falls. We are packed with just an extra dress in case we decided to swim, nothing more. We took our lunch in a carinderia in front of the Rizal Provincial Capitol. There's a mini store and a table beside it with the dishes. We didn't mind the look of the eatery, as long as it is food and it is cheap, we're good.
After our lunch, we took a ride going to Tanay, and had a mini chitchat with the other passengers, they laughed with us when my friend Bjorn tumbled when he offered help to an old lady to carry the sack of garments, they told us some stories, and the destinations that we might visit. The folks are so amazing, they are so kind and hospitable.
After a long jeepney ride, we hired a tricycle going to Daranak Falls, since there are no public transportation available, you need to arrange a special trip. (Note: Please ask the people in the burger stall, they are kind and willing to help you bargain with the driver. Plus they will give you a trust-worthy driver too.) After the long smooth road, you'll turn left to a bumpy, rocky and under-developed road going to the Daranak Falls.
That bumpy road is surrounded by trees, amazing tall trees. It is indeed one good spot for photo. Instagram people will be stoked for this spot. It gives you an enchanted forest vibe, or lost in the woods kind of scene, wonderful work of nature.
After the road, you'll see a cottage beside the entrance of the Daranak Falls. There are fees, but not a big deal since that is for the maintenance of the area. You have to pay and register in that cottage, or registration area. They also have free common medicines; I knew about it because I am having an ultimately severe ache on my gum, I had to ask for an ibuprofen. The people in registration area are nice, so don't bother to ask.
I was very excited to see the beauty of Daranak, and it doesn't failed me. Everything in our lives are all worn out, and dreadful, but after seeing the majestic falls, it brings out all the positive vibrations in me. All of the hopes and energy came out. I fell in love with this falls.
The breeze is so cool, mixture of the fresh air and the water sprinkles from the falls. The water has different shades of blue, from clear to dark, its depth is recognizable because of the clear water flowing freely. Anywhere you look at, green is always present. The abundant biodiversity in the place is a living statement that Mother Nature is still alive and kicking.
Different types of trees, flowers, grass and moss. Everything is perfectly placed. The falls itself is such an enchanted one. It is fearless, it is like saying "Bow down, be amazed by my beauty, I am the Queen." It is so amazingly stunning.
People can swim, however we chose not to, since it was 4:30 in the afternoon when we arrived, the locals told us that the water is very cold around the time. We dipped our hands and feet and yes, it is ice-cold. Just staring and feeling the waterfalls is more than enough to me. We just wanna take a break from the exhausting life in the city, and we had more than what we prayed for.
Watch out for the next destination of my Tanay adventure and the complete itinerary and costing.
Ciao~
