Mystical Cave: Technicals

Here are some important things to remind going to the Mystical Cave.

HOW TO GET THERE:

From Quezon City

Ride a van or jeepney going to "Antipolo Simbahan" in Cubao.
  • Jeepney Terminal is located behind Telus in Cubao, and there is a jeepney stop in front of SM Cubao, along P.Tuazon.
  • Van Terminal is in the middle of Farmers Plaza and Stairs to MRT-Araneta Cubao, near the Bus Stop.
  • Van costs Php50.00 per head and Jeepney costs Php 34.00. Some of the kunduktors will ask you to pay more than the regular fare.
  • For van, the last stop is Mang Inasal near the Antipolo Cathedral, for Jeepneys, get off in front of Puregold or EON Gas Station, and then walk towards the Cathedral.
From Manila:

Take the LRT 2, and get off at Santolan Station.
Ride a Jeepney or van to "Antipolo Simbahan" at the front of the station.
  • Jeepney ride costs 22-24 pesos, and Van costs Php 40.00
  • The Van terminal is not noticeable, and they don't have the usual UV Express signs, so better ask the barkers or the vendors.
  • Drop off point is still Puregold or EON gas station for Jeepneys, and Validosa Salon for Van.
From Pasig/Ortigas/Mandaluyong:

Ride a van or jeepney going to "Antipolo Simbahan".
  • Terminals will depend on where you are coming from. There are terminals in SM Megamall, Starmall, and they pass by Metrowalk, Tiendesitas, IPI, Rosario, Jenny's, Junction.
  • The cost depends on where are you coming from, but usually it is Php 50.00 for van, if you're from the Terminal and Php35.00 for Jeepneys from the Terminal.
  • Drop off point for van is in front of Mang Inasal, and for Jeepneys, beside 7-eleven.
  • Take note, do not take the Tanay bound jeepneys, it will pass by Antipolo, but the other way.
Look for 7-eleven convenience store and pass by the street beside.
Ask the locals, and go to the "Antipolo Hills Jeepney Terminal".
  • You will pass by the Kwek-Kwek stall. I highly suggest to taste it. Its sauce is one of the best. One scoop of the orange sauce and half scoop of vinegar.
Ride a Jeepney to Antipolo Hills and ask the driver to drop you off the road going to La Salle.
  • Jeepney ride costs Php 9.00 per head.
  • The drop off point's mark is a waiting shed, a school tarpaulin, and a splitting road after the mountain-view.
You can walk down to Town and Country Heights, or take a tricycle straight to the Mystical Cave; It will be expensive.
  • If you decided to walk, and have a little warm up, take a tricycle ride on the La Salle Terminal, and it costs 40-60 pesos per tricycle. 4 people can fit in to one tricycle.

I highly suggest not to take a tricycle from Antipolo Cathedral, the tricycle drivers will ask you to pay 200-500 pesos. If you want to take a tricycle, please bring your haggling powers. The tricycle ride to La Salle Terminal is Php 60.00 per tricycle only, so its not good to pay a hundred-peso more.

If they ask you "Isang byahe" it means a special trip.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Extra, clean shirt - Your shirts might get dirt while doing the activities
  • Water - To freshen you up
  • Enough Money - For the fares, fees and such.
  • Insect Repellent - though I don't use one, my friend got dengue week after their trip. We don't have an idea where it came from, but its better to be safe. There are lots of insects, remember.

I want to suggest the Kwek-kwek Stand near 7 eleven and Jeepney terminal. Please try their goodies.
The orange dress of the quail egg has its consistency, and for the sauce:
4 eggs = 1 orange-y sauce + half of vinegar
Thats so awesome!
