Balaw-Balaw Restaurant; Angono, Rizal

After my NEMIRANDA ARTHOUSE trip, I decided to look for a carinderia where they can offer Angono's best tasting meals. While walking towards the highway, a Filipino vibe restaurant caught my attention; it is the Balaw-balaw Restaurant and Gallery.

You'll be shocked when you find out what is the meaning of Balaw-balaw, and I suggest that you ask first their Balaw-balaw rice before asking the meaning of the word.

The rustic-Filipino theme makes me travel through time, I mean, it is so old school yet you'll feel you're home. The table cloths are colorful, there are painted carabao head mosaics hanged near the ceiling, and the food are authentic Filipino dishes.

I am wondering if I must order a delicious dish if not, remember that I went alone, I'm afraid that I might not finish it all. The waiter suggested their plated meal, I forgot what is the exact name of it, but it is a meal that includes 1 rice, and various dishes for only Php 250.

I had crabs, shrimps, tahong, pork adobo, kangkong and salted egg with tomato plus a big cup of rice. I am a salty type of a person, so I really enjoyed the rock salt that was sprinkled, I don't know if its on the rice or kangkong, but nonetheless it is definitely exceptional!
It is an open area, so you can breathe fresh air within your stay. You can also roam around the place where some of the art works are posted. There are also wood carvings and statues that give the place a creepy vibe.

You can notice the restaurant because of their sign, and it is also near by the road, just a few meters away. It is near the Nemiranda House, you can actually walk through Balaw-Balaw.

The sign.

Very Baro't Saya theme for the tables
